Legendary film actor Prabir Mitra has worked in over 400 films in his illustrious career. He won his first National Award in the Best Supporting Actor category, for his performance in the film "Boro Bhalo Lok Chhilo", in 1982.

Prabir Mitra's performance in the film, "Nawab Sirajuddaula" (1989), was also acclaimed. He also received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Bangladesh National Film Awards 2018.

The actor has been keeping away from the screen due to health issues for a while now. "He has tested positive for Covid-19 last year which made us all very worried," shares his daughter-in-law Sonia Yeasmin. "By the grace of almighty and the love from his fans, he is doing better now."

The actor is currently staying at his residence in Dhaka and only steps out for medical checkups. "He performs his daily chores, reads books and magazines, and watches TV sometimes. Home is his world now," she adds.

The actor usually visits Square Hospitals and another private hospital in Panthapath. He has spent most of his life on sets, giving back-to-back shots, and even visited the BFDC regularly outside his schedules. However, the sickness has taken it all from Prabir Mitra.

"He often expresses his discontent and stays depressed. He was not awarded a plot from the government. However, many others were. This thought often keeps him disappointed," shares Sonia Yeasmin.

The actor has also been suffering from arthritis and has been unable to walk without support. "He usually keeps staring at the ceiling or looks at the road with lost eyes and this really leaves me heartbroken," concludes Sonia Yeasmin.
